We LOVE Being Your Tutor!

It is officially February, so we think it's the perfect time to remind our readers that we truly LOVE what we do! Here at beam, we are dedicated to our time with each of our students and focused on their unique academic needs. Progress is a process but seeing our students' confidence and skills build is a feeling that never gets old!

Our team is made up of an amazing group of mentors with various areas of expertise, allowing us to offer tutoring in all grades, subjects, test prep and executive function skills. We match our tutors carefully with their students based on expertise, scheduling and personality. We want the greatest possible opportunity for rapport. While having a strong understanding of subject material is important for every tutor, we would argue that being responsible, positive and passionate are just as necessary. We are proud to say these attributes describe our tutors at beam.

beam tutor Andrew, says "I benefitted first-hand from some really awesome teachers when I was your student's age and credit most of my later academic success to these individuals who stuck with me until the metaphorical "light-bulb" turned on for me in subjects like Calculus, Chemistry, and English." He, like so many of our tutors, have said repeatedly that their favorite tutoring moment is that "aha" moment for one of their students. Getting to witness the pivotal time when a student's confidence grows is part of what drives their passion. Long-time beam tutor Victoria "loves seeing her clients become more confident and successful over time."

beam Tutor Katy, says her favorite part of being a tutor is "adapting information to different learning styles and student interests to make content easier to understand and increase confidence within her students." Let's be honest, we know that school is not always fun. Our team wants to make learning as enjoyable as possible. Courses can be challenging and can even feel foreign at times. Learning how to effectively organize material or finding a study strategy that fits an individual's specific learning style, is not always something a classroom teacher has the time to build in a short school day. Academic struggles take a toll on confidence and motivation in what are already emotionally challenging years for our children. At beam, we are here to step in with fresh techniques for your student.

Katy adds that being able to provide opportunities outside of the classroom for an individual, with one-on-one learning was the best part about tutoring with one of her recent students -- it is unique compared to classroom learning. Our sessions are private, 1-on-1, and build on what is being taught in the classroom. The repetition of regular tutoring makes it easy to intertwine your tutor's strategies into your student's daily practice, both inside and outside the classroom and sessions.
