Over the last several years we have had the privilege of gathering at a kitchen table, library nook, and even through a computer screen, to tutor with students of all ages in this community. We are honored to help support needs from pre-kindergarten to college-level for testing prep, homework maintenance, Statistics, Spanish and everywhere in-between.
We are grateful to be in the hard moments with our families. Sometimes this has meant chatting with our student's teacher, or simply showing up to be a calm, familiar voice when they are struggling after a hard school day. Our tutors strive to learn what works best for each individual student, then builds their confidence with unique approaches tailored to their needs, all while pushing them to do their best. This pays off. We have seen it countless times and we truly believe in our private, 1-on-1 approach here at beam Tutoring.
From the words of one of our own tutors, "I teach the individual student. I believe the most successful approach to tutoring is teaching to your student's needs. I enjoy tutoring a variety of students because I am constantly adapting my teaching style to their needs." This mindset is what makes our team of tutors so special. They truly care about the success of the students they work with each week. And they recognize the importance of continually growing as a tutor and mentor themselves.
One of our longtime tutors has been working closely with a very sweet beam student multiple days a week for the last couple of months by helping him with the major adjustment of high school, coupled with his own unique challenges focusing on schoolwork. Her thoughts on working with him: "I have seen substantial changes in his progress. We have raised class grades and learned together what works for him as a student."
Here at beam Tutoring, we know that reading is more than reciting words off of a page. We are here to make sure our students are comprehending what's in their literature. We know that testing is more than memorization. We are here to make sure our students connect the steps to find the answer on their own. We know that technology is ever evolving, and that this current generation has had to learn to adapt to the world of virtual learning and communication. We are here to help our students thrive even from behind a computer screen.
