How Tutoring Can Provide a Calm Amongst the Chaos

Happy New Year! 2020 had a lasting impact on us all in ways we could have never imagined, but we made it, and it is hard to believe (and yet a relief) to start a new year! One of the lingering challenges of the pandemic is the impact on our children's education. Our kids' school schedule has been flipping back and forth from virtual to in-person, back to virtual, and perhaps not any in person at all. It has been a struggle to establish a routine and create consistency in our children's educational lives.

I have always been a firm believer that kids thrive off a routine. This is especially true when it comes to their schoolwork. The families that we have been working with throughout the pandemic have all given me the same feedback. They are so thankful for the weekly tutoring that takes place for their children. Here are some of the positives they have shared with me that beam Tutoring provides for their family.

1- Consistency: Having a tutor visit (either in person or virtually) on a consistent schedule establishes a healthy educational routine. They depend on that support and know what to expect each week.

2- Accountability: Having someone other than Mom or Dad to answer to is a significant educational aide. I cannot tell you how many calls I get from parents who say, "They just don't want my help." or "They don't want Mom or Dad's advice." Nothing against us parents, but tutors allow a neutral party to become their education partner. The tutor plays the same role as a traditional teacher and value the relationship that is formed. Our tutors check in on and keep up with the students. They know their tutor's expectations and will work to ensure they meet the goals they have created.

3- Confidence: Kids can get lost in the monotony of virtual learning, their recall ability can decrease, and grades and performance may drop. This causes students to lose confidence and not ask for help. Tutors provide that encouragement students need. They are there to praise them for all the good they are doing. They can help guide them through difficult material and be excited when they have accomplished challenging tasks. Students know that their tutors care, and they believe in them.

4- Achieving Results: One of the main reasons families reach out for a tutor is that their children are not performing up to their capable levels. They are searching for someone to help push them up to their highest potential. Having a weekly, consistent tutor will increase student's performance through consistency, accountability, and instilling confidence. In a one-on-one setting, they will learn and flourish. With the tutor's help, the students will gain the results they were searching for.

If you are one of those families who would love to connect with a tutor, please reach out to us! We would love to be able to provide you with a tutor who can help your child succeed!
